Lewes City Overview
Lewes Phone Directory Hub
The main hub for the Lewes Phone Directory starts at ci.lewes.de.us. This is the front door for news, events, and the full city phone list. The site runs on the CivicPlus government web platform. You will find the Meeting Calendar, Notify Me sign-up, a comments form, and the Employment page in the footer. Online payment tools are there too.
A view of the City of Lewes homepage is shown below.
From the home page you can jump to city partners. That list has the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, the Lewes Fire Department, and the Lewes Historical Society. You can also get to the Lewes Public Library, Sussex County government, and the BPW for utilities. Each partner has its own line, so keep the homepage open as a start point.
Trash fans should note one quirk. A second weekly trash run starts on Friday, June 26 and runs each Friday through August 28. This run is subscription based. Property owners must sign up and pay by Friday, May 8, 2026. Call City Hall at 302-645-7777 with any sign-up questions.
Lewes Government Directory
The Government hub at ci.lewes.de.us/27/Government ties every governance tool to one page. The hub lists Affiliates and Memberships, Agendas and Minutes, and the Boards and Commissions roster. You can pull up the City Charter or read the City Code Book. The Contact Us link opens a form. The Core Values page lays out what the city stands for.
A screenshot of the Government hub page is shown next.
The hub also has links for Departments, Election Information, and Emergency Preparedness. The Freedom of Information Act page is on the same hub. The FOIA page quotes state law and says that public business must be done in an open way. Under 29 Del. C. §§ 10001-10008 every person has the right to ask for city records.
The Mayor and City Council link sends you to the roster and meeting dates. The Planning Activity Website lets you view current projects and file public comment. All of these tools tie back to the Lewes Phone Directory so a call can follow up a web search.
Note: City Council meetings are open to the public and agenda packets go live on the Government hub a few days ahead of each session.

Note: Yard waste collection uses a set route and a contracted hauler, so confirm your pickup day with the Maintenance Department before setting out bags.
Lewes Forms and Phone Numbers
The Forms and Applications page at ci.lewes.de.us/159/Forms-Applications ties each city form to the right staff line. FOIA, permits, licenses, grants, and event requests all live on this one page. Each form lists a contact, a phone line, and an email. This is the fastest way to match a form to a person in the Lewes Phone Directory.
A view of the Forms and Applications page is shown below.
FOIA requests go to Ashley Akgoren, the city FOIA Coordinator. Her line is 302-645-7777 ext. 108. You can also email her at aakgoren@ci.lewes.de.us. Each job needs its own form. You can get the Employment Application Form by calling Lewes City Hall at 302-645-7777. You can also print the form from the page. The city asks that a resume come with the Employment Application Form. Send a finished form to hr@ci.lewes.de.us or mail it to PO Box 227, 114 E 3rd Street, Lewes, DE 19958. Questions about a job posting go to 302-645-7777 ext. 107.

Call the HR line if you want a live update on what is posted. The page is a quick stop in the Lewes Phone Directory if you want to work for the city.
Lewes Meeting Calendar Portal
The city meeting portal lives at lewes.civicweb.net. The calendar shows past, present, and future meetings. Grey squares on the calendar flag days with a meeting. Hover on a grey square to see the details for that day. Click a meeting name to open the agenda once it is live.
A view of the meeting calendar portal is shown here.
Use the arrows next to the month name to flip back or ahead. The calendar also has a filter by meeting type. Pick a type from the drop down to see only those meetings. This is handy when you just want to track the Planning Commission or the Historic Preservation Commission.
The portal ties back to the Lewes Phone Directory because each board has a staff liaison. If you miss a meeting and want a packet, call the City Clerk at 302-645-7777. The FOIA rules under 29 Del. C. §§ 10001-10008 also cover meeting minutes, so back-dated copies can be requested in writing.
Note: If a meeting goes to executive session, the minutes may be held back until state law clears them for public release, so check the portal each week.
